Ah yes, once again, it's pledge drive time at WVKR. Please keep in mind that unlike many other listener-supported radio stations, we do only ONE pledge drive per YEAR. Not monthly. Not quarterly. A $100 pledge works out to less than $2 a week to support the Hudson Valley's most unique commercial-free listening experience. At $50, that's less than a buck a week. And of course you get several collectible WVKR premiums with your annual pledge.
This year brings with it new, Limited Edition, 2013 WVKR T-shirts, Totes and Stickers. Many listeners collect the pledge drive items each year because each year brings a new logo, designed by a WVKR student staffer. Consistency has never been one of the station's virtues, as evidenced by the incredible variety of programs on the station... and the ever-changing logos. We all have our favorite programs and our favorite logos.
You can see the colorful new 2013 T-shirt and Tote-bag designs at www.wvkr.org along with a downloadable pledge drive form. As always, we'll have volunteers staffing the studio phone lines for your pledges at 845-437-7178. Call during today's show (3pm-6pm, Eastern time), or call anytime this weekend and be sure mention The Orphanage of Rock and Roll as your favorite (or one of your favorite) shows.
Everybody you hear on the air at the station is an unpaid volunteer. WVKR is 100% commercial-free, so we do not make money selling annoying commercials. All pledge drive proceeds help pay the myriad of bills incurred in keeping the station operational. As always, we appreciate your support and thank you for keeping programs like The Orphanage of Rock and Roll on the air and streaming on the web.
