Here we go again. Pesky bills. Expenses. Every radio station has them, just like you and I. And bills must be paid.
Remember, WVKR never has any paid commercials interrupting your favorite shows, so we need to ask our radio friends to show some financial support for the station. Some stations ask their listeners continuously, others once a quarter, or twice a year. We only do it ONCE A YEAR. And now is that time of year.
Of course, the silver lining is that you have this one chance to update your wardrobe with a new 2014 design WVKR T-shirt, and enjoy other token gifts from us to you. Here's a quick link to the station's pledge drive page. No slick corporate logos for us, just in-house hand-crafted designs. If we were slick and corporate, would we be playing the music we play? Of course not. We'd be playing the same top-testing tunes as all the commercial stations.
HOW TO PLEDGE:
Here's the phone number if you'd like to call during the show: (845) 437-7178
Here is the online form: PLEDGE NOW
Thanks, as always, for your ongoing kind words and moral support all year long. And today, thanks in advance for your annual financial support. The show must go on, the bills must be paid, and the "annual ask" must commence.
And yes, the color theme of my playlist blog is now showing more "green" today. Subtle, ain't I? :-)
The Orphanage of Rock and Roll has been a home for homeless rock and pop records on 91.3 WVKR in Poughkeepsie, NY since 1995. ---- Join rock historian Pete Clark as he uncovers the deep tracks that fell between the cracks in the top-secret back room of the W-V-K-aRchives. ---- Footnotes in the history of rock and roll, along with vaguely familiar tracks you thought you’d never hear on the radio again.
